Below are some of the faces you can expect to see on our Friday nights and what they have to share about their experience. Call a friend or two and say “Meet me at Tapas on Friday!!”

Rob Zii Taylor’s career as a very versatile Alto, Soprano and Tenor Saxophonist has led him to many stage venues worldwide. Originally meeting via Black Sheep Music Productions the Duet’s – Rob Zii and Phyness is a combination of Saxophone & Harmonious Vocals. Their versatile talented performance and dynamic stage presence is adaptable for large stage audience and more intimate venues. With music genres spanning Reggae, Blues, Jazz and Soul they perform throughout the Caribbean and are ready to take the stage at international events. “We have been performing at Tapas on The Bay for over a year now. We really enjoy this gig as it’s one of only a few that locals get to see us perform as we are in the hotels mostly. One after work for drinks which most times turns into more drinks and dinner. It’s a really cozy bistro environment and well suited for the music we play. The staff are great and very friendly. Probably being over the water with a gentle breeze, great food, atmosphere and music puts everyone in a good mood during their Tapas experience.”

Deland ‘DeeSax’ St Jules has been a musician for longer than he has not! He started his love affair with music in 1987. His preferred instrument is the saxophone even though he also plays the flute and bassoon. DeeSax got his start with Ecstasy, they dominated the hotel circuit in the late 80s, then he moved on the Reasons Orchestra, a band with which he still plays. Besides being an integral part of the saxophone section in the Royal St Lucia Police Band, DeeSax has been rewarded for his dedication and professionalism and has attained the rank of Inspector of Police. During his career, DeeSax has had occasion to back up some popular Caribbean artistes including Black Stalin, Sugar Aloes, Mighty Gabby and Shadow. DeeSax has also shared the stage with our distinguished instrumentalists in the persons of Luther Francois, Barbara Cadet and Ronald ‘Boo’ Hinkson and was also a part of the West Indies Jazz Band that played in France. While he’s played as far afield as Belgium, Holland and London, he enjoys his nights at Tapas On The Bay. “I really enjoy performing to the Tapas audience, it affords me the opportunity to smoothly serve the saxophone notes in a real interactive way to a broad listening audience.”

His music focuses on genres such as Jazz, R&B, Hip hop and Soul Music. “Every time I perform at Tapas it’s always a great time, with great people and great food. My favorite part about performing at Tapas is playing my unreleased music for the new faces that I get to see and seeing how people react to it. It’s always fun, easy going and filled with energy and a love for live music. I must say that this is one of my favorite spots to perform at.”

Being able to entertain so many different faces has made this a very exciting experience. It has forced me to be very diverse given the different age groups coming in and has also helped me be a better entertainer. This experience will definitely help me grow into an exquisite performer. Thank you TAPAS!”
